Therapy

tailored

to your needs

Cassie Tocash Counseling offers thoughtful, focused therapy for adults who want to understand and move beyond the patterns, experiences, and relationships that may be keeping them from feeling fully like themselves. This may include unresolved trauma, grief and loss, anxiety or depression, relationship difficulties, or significant life transitions.

Here, therapy is customized and unrestrained by rigid templates or rushed appointments. That means greater autonomy in how we work together, with the flexibility to focus on your unique needs using approaches that support real and meaningful progress.

Life experiences can leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of what comes next.

Looking beneath the surface:

Past experiences, loss, relationship dynamics, health changes, and long-standing thought and behavior patterns shape how you relate to the world around you. This is how normal human behavior works.

But maybe you’ve reached a point where there’s a gap between how you appear to be doing on the outside and how you’re actually doing on the inside. You may be functioning, accomplishing, and doing what needs to be done while privately feeling anxious, sad, overwhelmed, disconnected, or disappointed because life doesn’t look the way you had imagined.

Together we can begin to understand what’s happening beneath the surface, heal what continues to weigh on you, and find a way forward that feels more aligned with who you are and what you need.

Services at Cassie Tocash Counseling

Therapy here blends real-world understanding with evidence-based practices. My approach is thoughtful, integrative, and tailored to you—drawing from different therapeutic approaches based on what you’re experiencing, what’s contributing to it, and what will be most useful in helping you move forward.

Areas of focus:

Trauma & unresolved experiences
Past experiences can continue to influence how you feel, respond, and relate long after the experience itself has passed.

Grief & loss
Support for loss due to death, relationship ending or not what you had imagined, health, identity, and changes you didn’t choose.

Anxiety & depression
When worry, self-doubt, sadness, overwhelm, or feeling disconnected begin interfering with how you want to experience your life.

Relationship challenges & communication
Help navigating conflict, disconnection, recurring communication difficulties, boundaries, and patterns that keep relationships feeling stuck.

Life transitions & identity
Support through changes in roles, relationships, careers, family life, aging, and those times when life doesn’t look quite the way you expected.

Health changes & serious illness
Therapy for the emotional impact of a new diagnosis, chronic or serious illness, caregiving, medical uncertainty, and changes in independence or daily life.

Individual Therapy

Therapy is most effective when it fits the person—not the other way around. I take an individualized, integrative approach, drawing from evidence-based therapies while paying close attention to your experiences, patterns, relationships, and what you need from therapy.

You may already have insight into yourself and understand where some of your patterns come from, yet still find yourself overthinking, reacting in familiar ways, or repeating patterns that no longer serve you. Our work can go beyond understanding why something is happening to address what continues to drive it.

Depending on your needs, therapy may involve exploring deeper emotional and relationship patterns, working with thoughts and behaviors, processing unresolved trauma or loss, or navigating a difficult transition. I draw from insight-oriented, cognitive-behavioral, acceptance-based, parts-informed, and trauma-focused approaches to help us work at both the surface and what may be underneath it.

I don't believe every client needs the same process or pace. Some people come to therapy with a very specific concern; others simply know something isn't working the way they'd like. We will start where you are and determine together what will be most useful.

Relationship Therapy

Relationships can be some of the most meaningful—and most challenging—parts of our lives. I work with couples and adult family members who want to improve communication, better understand recurring patterns, navigate conflict, or work through difficult transitions and decisions.

My approach is practical, collaborative, and focused on what is happening between you—not determining who is right or wrong. We look at the patterns underneath recurring conflict, how each person responds when those patterns are activated, and what may be making it difficult to communicate, connect, or move forward differently.

My background includes serving as a Kentucky court-approved family mediator, with experience involving divorce and co-parenting concerns as well as conflict between parents and adult children, adult siblings, and families navigating eldercare decisions. That experience informs my work with couples and families facing long-standing conflict, difficult decisions, unhealthy communication patterns, and emotionally charged situations.

Relationship sessions are typically scheduled for 90 minutes, allowing more time to work through complex issues without feeling rushed. Extended sessions may also be available when additional time would be beneficial.

Group Therapy

There is something uniquely powerful about being in a room with people who understand an experience in a way that others may not.

Groups offer an opportunity to connect with others while also doing meaningful therapeutic work. Depending on the focus, sessions may include guided discussion, education, structured activities, reflection, and opportunities to learn from the experiences and perspectives of other group members.

I keep groups intentionally small so there is room for connection, conversation, and individual participation.

Current Offering: The Grief Recovery Method

Grief isn't limited to death. We can experience grief following changes in relationships, health, career, family, expectations, and many other losses—including experiences that others may not recognize as grief.

The Grief Recovery Method is a structured, action-based program designed to help people identify and address unresolved grief associated with loss.

I facilitate the program in a small-group setting, where participants work through the process alongside others while focusing on their own individual experiences and losses.

A thoughtful, down-to-earth approach to therapy.

Therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical. I offer a space that is warm, collaborative, and grounded—where you can talk openly, make sense of what you're experiencing, and do the deeper work needed to move forward.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?
Request a consultation through the website or text (859) 762-6294, and I’ll reach out to connect with you. We’ll briefly discuss what brings you to therapy, what you’re looking for, and whether working together seems like a good fit.

Do you offer in-person and virtual therapy?
Yes. Both in-person and telehealth sessions are available. We can choose the format that works best for your needs and circumstances.

How often will we meet?
There isn’t one schedule that works for everyone. We’ll determine the frequency of sessions together based on what brings you to therapy, your goals, and what makes sense for you.

What if I’m not sure which service is right for me?
That’s completely fine. You don’t need to figure that out before reaching out. We can talk about what you’re looking for during the consultation and determine the best place to begin.

Do you accept insurance?
Cassie Tocash Counseling is a private-pay practice and does not participate in insurance networks. If your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, I can provide a superbill upon request that you may submit for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement is determined by your individual insurance plan.

Finding the right therapist matters. A brief consultation gives us a chance to talk about what brings you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and whether working together feels like the right next step.
